This wonderful stormy day on the Oregon coast was processed in the spirit of Sliders Sunday. That is the Yaquina Head Lighthouse in Newport, Oregon.
This is the Serpentine Bridge which is the boundary between Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens and also the boundary between the Serpentine and the Long Water in London, England. While I was processing this I noticed that each of the poles had a seagull on it. I do not remember if I noticed that when I took the photo. I like to think that the seagulls were watching me take photos in the area and decided to line up for this shot.
This photo shows several important landmarks for San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. To the left is the San Rafael or Santa Escuela Church. According to legend, this older chapel was the site of the first Christian ceremony in San Miguel de Allende. In the center is one of the most photographed churches in Mexico, La Parroquia de San Miguel Arcángel considered to be the symbol of the city. The two sculptures visible are also significant. The one closer to La Parroquia is of the 16th century friar Juan de San Miguel, while the one on the building to the right is of Ignacio Allende. It doesn’t take much imagination to figure out that the name of the city, San Miguel de Allende, came from these two persons. Juan de San Miguel is considered to be one of the founders of the city while Ignacio Allende who was born in the building where his statue is enshrined was one of the principal figures in the early part of the Mexican War of Independence.
